Nepal is a landlocked sovereign state located in South Asia. With an area of 147,181 square kilometres (56,827 sq mi) and a population of approximately 30 million, Nepal is the world's 93rd largest country by land mass and the 41st most populous country.
In 2013, Nepal ranked the 157th place on the Human Development Index (HDI) and is one of the least developed nations in the entire world.
Given a poverty line of US$2 per-capita per day, about 57.3%.of the population live below this line.However, the income distribution remains grossly uneven.
According to UNICEF, the total adult literacy rate is about 57.4 %, but it remains uneven regarding different areas of the country and the person`s gender.
